Black on Black

Black on black with a touch of silver.  Outfits like this make me happy.

sleeveless jacket : wishstone
dress : jacqui e
booties : rubi

This outfit was from a week ago when it was still very warm. The weather is cooling down and we are enjoying a well earned reprieve from the heat.

Hope you are all enjoying the Easter weekend.

Cobalt

Apart from black, I think cobalt might just be my favourite colour.  And with the weather turning cooler, I was keen to try out my new skinny pants and booties.

oversized top : cotton on
skinny ponte pants :  filo
booties : soles
necklace : made by me

Wore this outfit to work for a catch up day at my desk.  It was comfy and casual but still smart enough.

Once again I apologise for the photo quality.  Iphone pics look great until you crop and resize!
But it is quick and convenient.  Working on updating my camera:)

Thanks for popping by.

Anyone else adding cobalt to their closet?

Proportions

Proportions are fun to play with.  They can make or break an outfit.. so I have been told.

My usual preference is for only one oversized item teamed with a slimmer piece.  But it's no fun if you don't break your own rules every now and again.

culottes : yarra trail

White

After years of only wearing black footwear, my style mentor, the lovely Angie Cox over at YouLookFab, introduced me to the idea of light coloured footwear.  Understanding that whites and creams "bookend" my blonde hair brought about a mini wardrobe revolution.

So I was pretty excited when these darlings arrived earlier today.
Valiant Boot from Spurr

Unfortunately I ordered the wrong size so they were returned and I should receive my size next week.  Hope to show you them in an outfit soon.

Let's not talk about keeping them clean through winter!  But if you have any tips, I would love to hear them.

And if you have a moment, check out Sylvia at 40+ Style and her Black, White & One Colour Challenge here.  It was a fun challenge and given my penchant for black and white I couldn't not join in.

Copy Cat

I read quite alot of blogs and while I generally enjoy the many outfits I view, occasionally one will really resonate with me and I absolutely must create my own version.

So thanks to Beverly at Beverly like Hills for today's inspiration.  Amazing how her posting her outfit corresponded to a sudden and welcome drop in the temperature here.

Velvet

Photographing outfits is a great way to see what really works and what doesn't.  I love this velvet sack dress but the reality is, it does't really love me back.  So despite the comfort, the lovely feel of the velvet and the cool neckline, I suspect this is it's last outing.

Office

Anything goes in my office... which works for me!  I do tend to be someone who dresses depending on how I feel so this gives me a lot of scope and facilitates my love of variety in my outfits.

jacket : red berry
tunic : lilia
skirt : cocolatte
shoes : corelli

This tunic is a very easy piece to wear.  It works well equally over skirts and pants as long as the under layer is slimline.  It is sleeveless but these days I find my preference is to cover my arms.

Pattern mixing is very popular currently and being a novice in that department I like to stick to keeping my pattern mixing tonal, hence the abstract pattern of the tunic against the animal print wedges.

Black & Blue

Featuring my favourite colour combination of blue and black, this is a bit of a "uniform" for me for work.

Jacket : Red Berry
Ink Blouse - Target
Slouchy Trousers - Sportsgirl
Shooties : Rivers

Cool Blue

Ink Blue is not an easy colour to find in clothing at the moment.  It has experienced some popularity over the Northern Hemisphere's Autumn/Winter but not a lot to found here ... yet!

It's a great alternative to black, works well with black and is a little softer on my fair features.

Layered Blouse - Local Boutique
Skinny Jeans - Kmart
Wooden Wedged Heel Peep Toe Booties - Rubi Shoes

The blouse adds quite a bit of interest to the outfit so accessories are kept to a minimum.

A Work In Progress

As an avid reader of fashion and style blogs, it does appear that many blogs are a work in progress!  From meager beginnings we hone our skills, fine tuning the blog and finally creating a well edited and stylish product.  I would love this blog to be utter perfection from day one but then where would the fun be?

Oversized Top - Supre
Skinny Jeans - Katies
Shooties - Rivers
Bag: Stella McCartney for Target

Clearly this blog is in it's infancy, as I grapple with photography, blog layout, etc. So please excuse the inconsistencies and forgive me for, from time to time, adopting things I see in other fabulous blogs.  One of my favourite blogs inspired me to try out a different photo location and have a bit of fun in front of the camera for today's post.  I'm sure you can guess who, but if not check out my blog roll, and may she forgive me...The do say imitation is sincerest form of flattery.

Today's outfit is what I refer to as a fast fallback outfit (FFBO).  Something you know works and is quick and easy to throw on when you have slept in and can't be late.
