Signature

I am sure we all have signature elements to our style and two of mine would be manicured nails and my hairstyle.

My hairstyle has remained fairly constant for too long!  I have worn my hair in a bob style (multiple variations) over the past 20 years.  For the past 12 months I have been looking at photos of my style icons, all of which have short hair, pondering the big questions... could I?, should I?....well I did!

Instagram "selfies' in black and white are a bit of a habit and serve to produce cool profile pictures:)
The black and white always looks a bit glam and a touch more flattering

And already, I considering going even shorter.  It's easy to manage, quick to style and feels great.  And I think it was just the change I needed.

I have also worn nail polish since I was old enough to do my nails.  My most constant colours have been a beautiful classic red and black, both found over the years in brands ranging from Revlon to Chanel (both of which I still love).  But my polish of choice at the moment is UK brand Rimmel.  Quick drying, nice consistency and my manicure tends to last a good 4 or 5 days.

From left to right:  Sally Hanson Hard As Nails / Wet Cement, Maybelline Color Show / Sapphire Siren, Rimmel / Black Out / Aye Aye Sailor / Double Decker Red / Pop / Lively Lilac, BYS / French White, MUD / Nudely Now & hand cream by L'Occitane
Over the past few years, I have added grey, blue and nudes to my polish colours.  The orange sadly hasn't been in rotation for some time and is about to be voted of the island.

So I wonder, do you change your hair spontaneously, or are you more considered and intentional?

What elements do you consider to be part of your 'signature' style.

Apologies for no outfit post.  I am currently on holidays and we have been experiencing a heat wave.  I have been rotating black sleeveless dresses and sandals when out and when at home I'm barefoot and rotating three simple cotton dresses.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!  I trust you have had a safe and enjoyable New Year and that 2014 will be a year full of blessing and joy.. and great style.

top ; katies
pants : classic pant slim leg / katies
shoes : vintage
accessories : pearl drops & satin cuff wtih silver and pearl clasp
bag ; myer

I wore this outfit on Christmas Eve to my church's Carols Service.  The top has a lovely drape and flow and is very comfortable and cool to wear.  The white is such a fresh crisp tone and works very nicely with my black pieces.  The top was available in 3 colours and black was not one of them *sad face*... I would have been all over this top in black.

The top makes what I consider to be a 'subtle' statement so I kept everything else to a minimum.  A simple silver and pearl drop earring, black cuff and vintage sandals with a great stacked heel.  A silver and black clutch finished the outfit.

I promised to show you some Christmas goodies and here they are!

The bag was a gift from my sister.  It's by Things Terrific which is an Australian family owned company.  I only recently discovered them and am very impressed with the lovely soft leather and quality of this bag.

And these sandals were a gift from my husband.  I had fallen in love with the LD Tuttle 'The Watch' Sandal and spent some months trying to find something similar here in Australia.  The end result were these Django & Juliette sandals which I am so pleased with.  Again gorgeous soft leather and seriously comfortable footwear.

If you have read this far, here is a teaser for my next post!  Having thought about it for 12 months, I woke up New Years Day and decided to have my hair cut short.  Method or madness?  We shall see.
