OUTFIT : BLACK AND WHITE

If I am not wearing all black, chances are I will be wearing black and white.  With Summer closing in, adding a little softness with white is a great way to transition my black items into the warmer weather.

While the warm weather often inspires many of us to bring out the colours in our wardrobe, I find my palette of black, white, grey and blue makes me just as happy in summer as in winter.

In the warmer months I do find having bare legs and arms also serves to "soften" my blacks. Blacks can be a little heavy for the warm weather so keeping it "light" seems to make it work best.  I generally like to have some skin showing on my legs, arms and neckline to create the right balance and proportions.

How about you?  Do you wear black in Spring/Summer?  Do you have a colour palette that you love and wear all year round?

OUTFIT : DRESS OVER PANTS

Wearing a dress over pants is one of my favourite looks and I have been wearing it for well over 15 years.  It hasn't changed much.  I tend to stick to a slim leg pant and dress with either an asymmetric hemline or of late the hi/low hem.

If you pop by regularly you will know that I am not in the habit of wearing patterns, but this one was so beautiful, I couldn't resist.

Of course leggings are another option, but I like the proportions created here by a more structured pant.

How about you?  Are you wearing dresses over pants?

GAME CHANGER : SIGNATURE BELT

Sometimes the most unexpected item can bring new life to older items. This was the case for me when I bought the Motto Betty Belt recently.

While I like the idea of belts, I rarely find ones that I like, or ones that are comfortable enough to wear all day.  As a result, my belt of choice has been a nice soft Obi Belt, but the Obi belt is somewhat limited as it works best sitting on the waist providing little versatility.

My new belt however can be worn on the waist or on the hips, is soft and stretchy and somehow, magically, stays in place when worn on the hips so there is little fuss and readjusting required.

The beauty of this addition to my wardrobe is that it has given new life to some of my outfits.  Last year I enjoyed wearing a lot of simple oversized tops, but this year, while I am still loving those tops, I am craving a slight change in silhouette, so adding a lower slung belt has refreshed these items.

The Betty Belt, along with it's bigger (bucklewise) sister The Orbit Belt  (available in silver or gunmetal) are signature pieces in the Motto range.

If you are looking for something to add a little something to your outfits, maybe it's a statement belt??

So, do you wear belts?  If not, why not?

FINDS : HOUSE OF POLY

Thanks to Instagram, I have recently discovered some new fashion designers, accessory designers and some new style buddies!

One of the accounts I recently started following was House of Poly.

Each item is handmade by designer Katrina.  Katrina designs, rolls the clay into unique beads, cures and forms each piece by hand thus creating a genuinely unique piece of jewellery.

Some of my favourite pieces at the moment..

I am not normally drawn to what I would define as 'arty' accessories, but there is something about these designs that I find really appealing.  It could be that there is a lot of black and neutral tones, with just the right pop of colour which makes them perfectly suited for 'finishing' a very streamlined all black outfit;)

Oh and did I mention Katrina is a fellow Aussie?!

If you have a moment, check out House of Poly.

And if you would like follow me on Instagram, where I post frequently, this is Me

Thanks for dropping by.
