If you read regularly, you will know that I love both layering and drape in my clothing. This beautiful vest does both... and rather well.

I have long had a love of sleeveless jackets and 'vests'. Something I wasn't fully aware of until a recent review of my closet. It seems I have a few. This one is the California Wrap Vest from Metalicus and it unfortunately appears to be sold out on line. The beauty of this wool blend vest is that it can be worn a number of different ways (something I love in a garment). You can see that I have over exposed the second photo to demonstrate the drape in the garments, but you can also see on each shoulder there is a clasp. There are corresponding clasps on the long points (at the hem) on each side and one on the inside waist and one of the outside waist on the opposite side. Did you get all that:) So the long points can be secured at the shoulder or the waist, or the shoulder and the waist in a number of number of ways. I am sure I will have other iterations to show you in future posts!
So what about you? Do you have a sleeveless jacket /vest in your wardrobe? Do you prefer a tailored vest or something less structured?
xxx Deborah
This is very "you", Deborah and it looks wonderful on you. I have a long, tailored vest but I struggle to style it. Maybe something to play with this winter.
ReplyDeleteSharon I would love to add a long tailored vest to my wardrobe for winter:). I would love to see you play with styling yours. Maybe with a nice slim line column of colour under it?
DeleteI think this is my favorite look of yours so far...this is great...love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you Pam :)
DeleteI have one almost identical from TS - you've reminded me to pull it out and wear it tomorrow as I have a mum's get together to go to :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds perfect! Don't TS do some wonderful things?
DeleteFantastic looking vest! I only own one vest that I've had for 6+ years; it's by Alexander Wang and it's a structured but loose cut. You may have seen it on my blog ODYSSEY. It has several ties that I often leave hanging loose.
ReplyDeleteSometimes a vest - usually considered an extra, non-functional piece - can provide a little warmth, modesty and/or verve to one's outfit.
Hi Stephanie, yes I do know the vest you have and it's lovely. I totally agree that it is sometimes the 'third piece" that does 'finish' or complete an outfit. I find Autumn and Spring are the prefect seasons for vests and then in winter they are often ideal for the office.
DeleteI absolutely love this look on you, particularly the subtle drape of your tunic under the vest.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mia! That tunic is a favourite and I think it's going to get a lot of wear:)
DeleteYou do draping so well. It looks so good on you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ashley. I love 'drape' and find it hard to put an outfit together without that element now.
