I am on Team Wear, so when I buy something new I usually wear it right away!
The new item is the high low sweater. It's a nice weight and falls perfectly. The 'high' hem is quite cropped and finishes at my natural waist. It lends itself rather nicely to 'faux tucking', ie. the front section sits just behind the belt and the rest of the top is left out.
Believe it or not, this is a Spring outfit. Our Spring can take a while to 'kick in' so to speak. It was warm earlier in the day but cooled down considerably later, so a jacket was required.

I don't change my colour palette much between seasons and will continue to wear black, white, and grey throughout Spring / Summer. For those months, I do enjoy lightening the black a little as done here, with the peep toe booties and the lighter coloured animal print belt. Earrings are another way I will add a pop of colour to an outfit.
I expect to get a lot of wear from the sweater. I plan on wearing it with skinny jeans/pants with a slim layer under the sweater, over pencil skirts and possibly over a flared skirt! Now I don't own a flared skirt, and at this point I don't see them quite fitting my style... but I have learnt to never say never. If I were to find the right skirt, I would certainly give it go.
Do you maintain a consistent colour palette year round, or do the seasons inspire your choices?
Thanks for dropping by, have a wonderful week.

Deborah, I couldn't imagine seeing you in bright orange or red! Black is more a statement than a colour and that's why I really love it on you. It is great to see some colourful accessories every now and then and even if it is lipstick only. That's you and no need to adjust to the seasons as long as you feel comfortable :-)
ReplyDeleteThe cut of your new sweater is really great!

Thanks Anette:). I may surprise in you weeks to come. I have a deep coral silky tee, and a green silky blouse, both quite saturated colours that make an appearance every now and again:)
Deletei love this outfit so much and I am about to go on a search for shoes just like these. Are they comfortable??
ReplyDeleteI like your color palette, and I like the look. The color in the earrings is very beautiful, your look, no longer needed. I love shoes and jacket.
ReplyDeleteI'm still liking the bit of red on you! Those trousers have an excellent drape. Seasons inspire me in many ways - wardrobe color palette, not so much. Black for me, always. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment, the Ann Demeulemeester coat may be a bit heavy for winters where I live. I'm new to the area, so I'll have to see.. But yes, it would go with what I have in my closet.
Oops - I meant the Rick Owens coat..
ReplyDeleteI do like the touch of red in the earrings and lip color. I've had times when I also only wore black. I think you should go with it as long as you feel good, then change to whatever tickles your fancy. Cool shoes and I like the white accessories for summer. Perfect cut on your bangs!

Wonderful belt, Deborah. The sweater is sure to get lots of wear I'd think. I, unfortunately, too many times make new purchases and then it's ages before they get worn. That's because I have TOO MUCH STUFF. ha
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to thank you for your wonderful comment to me. I replied to you there, but, if you're like me, you don't always make it back to check replies....so I wanted to make sure you knew it was very appreciated and helpful. :)

Nice outfit - I love the drapeyness of the top and the trousers. And that belt is great!
ReplyDeleteSpringy it is, but I know you'll wear pieces of it forever. Great purchases, cause you look beautiful!
