Peplum Power

Peplums seem to float in and out of fashion on a regular basis and I have managed to successfully ignore them since the 1980's,  however, late adopter that I am, I picked this one up a few months back.

ponte peplum top : katies
ponte & faux leather panel skirt : rivers
pointy toe flats : Express

This is not my preferred silhouette but I don't mind it for a change.  It brings to mind the lovely lady like styles of the 1940s.

I generally also prefer to wear heels as I am  only 5"1 and rather like a little added height, but I also appreciate the comfort of flats on occasion.   Flats with an almond toe have been incredibly popular for ages but they have never really worked well for me.  The effect of the long pointed toe reads to me as being much sleeker and creates a lovely leg line that even petites can wear.

So, peplum any one?

Have a lovely week.

xxx Deborah

  1. I love your blouse peplum is beautiful. And I really like your look, so simple and elegant. The skirt and shoes are two cuties.

  2. This peplum is a classic and I do see the 40's feel. Beautifully paired with the skirt and shoe. Your hair looks great, good bangs and perfect touch with your earrings. I'm 5'5" and I know what you mean about preferring heels. Great outfit!

  4. I'm only 5'2" but I wear flats…whenever! Wear what you want, I say. Nice twisted detail on that top.

  5. How great do you look in this combo!!!? Very feminine, as always. I'm liking peplums a lot this year. They've been around for several seasons, as you say,but it was only last summer that we saw them here. I'm often a late adopter as well, but it's because I live in the middle of nowhere! You look very sleek and lovely in this one ... what an unusual and perfect touch at the waist! Great for us hour-glass figured women, yes? I rarely wear flats, but may do someday! Good to see how they look on you ... and these are particularly pretty. My 5' needs some length, and I wear heels very comfortably. "Needs must when the devil drives!"

  6. Gorgeous, Deborah! Seems we are all short - I am 5'4'' and usually wear heels but love this type of flats. I also prefer the slightly pointed to the very round ones.
The peplum top and pencil skirt enhance your lovely hour glass figure and Gok Wan would be proud of you :-)

  7. I love peplum on others but somehow I have yet to try it myself. Somehow I have yet to find a piece that I truly like on me. You look great and it really accentuate your figure.

  8. You look fab in this outfit Deborah. I love peplums and find them so feminine. Your skirt appeals to me greatly as well.
I'm fairly tall in comparison at 5"6 and love to wear heels (however, being home these last 6 months they're not getting out much and I'm getting used to lower heels, flats and wedges).
Hope you've had a wonderful start to the week

  9. Yes, yes, yes.... I am so in favour of peplum. And yes, this top looks ever so nice on you. I would have combined it with a narrow skirt too. Or skinnies.
