Slouch

Slouchy silhouettes don't seem to have really hit the mainstream here.  Which is a shame on one level (not easy to obtain) but good on another (not everyone is wearing this silhouette).

drape top : katies
slouch pants : sportsgirl
wedge open toe booties : rubi

My preference is to wear a combination of unstructured and structured pieces but sometimes, the comfort of less structure just wins out.  Perhaps not always conventionally flattering, garments that drape and flow are very appealing to my eye.

What is your preference?  Structured or unstructured?

Thanks for dropping by.

  1. I am like you...I like to wear both. I really love a look like you are wearing here...the blouse is wonderful! And love the shoes!

  2. Generally I am wearing form fitting clothes but that doesn't mean I don't like a slouchy style if it is worn with style - as you show here. Slouchy can easily be taken as sloppy and bulky and therefore not as easy as it may sound. Your wedges and red lipstick are perfect with it. Great look, Deborah!

  3. I think this looks great on you! I'm also experimenting with pieces with a bit more volume and slouch...love the swish and movement of them.

  8. This outfit looks great! I think the two slouchy things work together because the pants don't really look slouchy except at the bottom.

I would love to wear more unstructured clothes. I think I have a hard time visualizing how they'll look when I see them in the store, so it's my own fault for having a limited imagination! This is a good lesson for me, then. :-)

    1. PS - I just came over from Visible Monday, and I looked at some of your older posts. I love your haircut! It really suits you. I also got bored with the bob and cut mine over a year ago.

    2. Val, thank you! I had my bob since I was about 18 in one variation or another and it was a big decision to get the chop. So glad I do though.. I am loving it and I have so much more time in the mornings!! xxx

  10. Hmm, well I would once have voted structure hands down, but I am now appreciating the charms of slouchy. I think this outfit looks wonderful - it has just enough structure to provide a great shape, but the drape looks soft and effortless.

  11. Very beautiful look and so is your hair! I've seen I few blouses in this style in our stores and I think of you. You look comfortable and chic. The earrings look great too. The shorter my hair gets, the more I feel a small earring is the way to go. I love the sandal and I'm glad to see the wedge again in style. I've saved many of them over the years because of the comfort. Fun to hear you had the coat I wore in my last post.

  12. The styling suits you to a tee. I'll wear color and prints, but I look to your expertise for ways to wear my favorite dark solids and classic B&W. You look lovely, very ready for an elegant afternoon or evening, and the look reads "draped and flowing" as apposed to slouchy. I like the very structured shoe, watch and perfect pearl rounds ... a not-so-often used tool for contrast with drape, but subtle and effective (just like you!) See? I learn!
And ... the "little head" ( close tucked hair ... I'm going to try this too with my new super-short bob ) and the red lip calmly and distinctly say "self-contained and in control!" My goal! You look wonderful.
