Statement!

As an alternative to an all black outfit, I like the idea of a simple black foundation layered over with a 'statement' piece, usually still in one of my neutrals.

grey drape sleeveless jacket : walker & beck
long sleeve drape tee : kmart
jersey pull on skirt : kmart
leggings : filo
ankle boots : rivers

This sleeveless jacket was one of those wonderfully unexpected finds.  It's warm, can be draped a few different ways and has a cool raw edge.  The collar is quite big and bulky, and since taking these photos I got to it with the scissors and have trimmed it a little. I liked the look of the bulk at the neck but it just wasn't comfortable... and I don't do uncomfortable.   I particularly like garments like this because I feel they transcend trend and have more longevity in my closet.

Is longevity important to you when selecting pieces to add to your wardrobe?

  7. This is indeed a statement piece. Looks very good on this all black background you are right. I keep thinking when I come to your blog (not often enough I admit it) what a lovely face and hair you have.

    1. Greetje, thank you for your very kind comment. I have trouble keeping up with all my fave blogs and when I finally get to yours I have lots of outfits to scroll through, which is fun. It's good having you post on YLF too as it reminds me to come on over and check out what you are wearing:)
