WORK READY : PRETTY IN PINK!

Let me start by saying I have NEVER been a 'pink' girl!  But over the last 12 months this particular shade of pink has really caught my eye.  After much consideration, I decided this could be a lovely shade to contrast with my predominantly black wardrobe.

jacket : laura ashley
top : suzanne grae
scarf : serra
pants : katies
boots : spurr

While I like to maintain the elements that I believe make my style 'my style', my day job provides an opportunity to explore a slightly more modern classic version of me.  The column of black 'toughens up' the pink and the silhouette, minus my signature drape, is still very much my 'norm'.

Like the blanket wrap I wore HERE, this is perhaps a bit of a wildcard for this season.

I must confess that I was totally surprised by how much I liked this jacket.  How about you? What's in your closet that you thought never would be?

xxx Deborah

  2. Oh, Deborah, that look beautiful and sweet! The combination of your all black with this soft pink is beautiful. You get to give light and freshness to the proposal. The scarf is cute. I'm a fan of your monochrome, but it's good, sometimes, play with color. Today, beautiful.

    1. Josep-Maria it is indeed fun to play with colour, but for me not too often :)

  3. Pink is so flattering on you! Since you've (wisely) chosen to add a color.. Very pretty, very fresh! Truth be told, I've added basic blue and navy to my previously 99% black wardrobe recently. Surprised? What can I say, it's been a long time coming. But even back when I wore plenty of color, blue wasn't usually one of them. Never thought I was a "blue" kind of person. Who knew! :)

    1. Odyssey, I did note a denim/chambray(?) shirt in an instagram post! I am pleasantly surprised re the addition of blue to your wardrobe. I think it would be a great colour for you and it would work very nicely with black. I love the idea of a well curated wardrobe where consideration is given to all additions. Carefully considered colour can add a nice touch.

  4. The pink looks great, Deborah. It works beautifully with your colouring and I think that by choosing a mid-tone rather than a pastel it bounces off the black perfectly. I have surprised myself recently by returning to jeans, which I had written off as too casual and too boyish. I guess the rule is "never say never!"

    1. I recall you hadn't been wearing jeans Sharon. I agree 'never say never' and you have a fabulous figure for jeans!

  5. Being a lover of all-black too, I really like this pop of pink on you - it suits your colouring. And the pink lippy too! I don't mind a dash of pink, but because I have darker hair, and fair (rosy) complexion, I choose a strong pink like a fuschia, or a blue-red if I'm feeling like something different. A 'colour" I've been wearing a little lately in a cardigan or 3/4 trousers is "beige"!!! Looks good with black methinks! Have a great weekend!

    1. Beige and black is a very classy combo! And with your colouring I bet those fuschia tones are stunning.

  6. It's a lovely fresh shade for the season and looks good on you too. I have to say that I've had things in the past that I thought I'd never own, or add to my closet, but right now while I'm learning to pair down, I really don't have anything in my closet out of 4 basic neutral colors. Black, white, olive, ivory.
I think if I found the right thing a bright paprika colored coat would be nice in the Fall.
