RATE

This is nothing special, but in the spirit of being real, I decided to post.

As I looked at these photos a song from the 80's filled my mind.  It was a favourite and even now brings back memories and feelings associated with that time of my life.

sweater : mossman
skinny jeans : kmart
wedge heel sneakers : target
garden setting : mine

I wore this outfit last Monday to go and play Laser Tag with Master 10.  This is pretty RATE (rough around the edges) for me but I like it.

The sweater is a recent purchase from Mossman and has a very cool split at the back and "ladders" on the front and sleeves.  It's an easy choice for skinny jeans, but works quite well over a longer length draped skirt also.

So back to that song.. it's "The Garden" by John Foxx.  Does the term "new romantic" mean anything to anyone??   No denying it!  I'm an 80's girls.  Oh and if you're wondering, I was seriously defeated in Laser Tag.  My goodness little boys move fast!

xxx Deborah

  2. Great sweater! I love the back.

I'm an 80's girl too...though I hadn't heard of John Foxx solo, I do remember Ultravox!

Is this your fav 80's song? Mine is "Listen to the Radio" by the Pukka Orchestra..they are (were?) Canadian like me :)

    1. Nancy, Ultravox are hands down my favourite 80's band. I always have at least one cd of their's in the car:) At the moment in my car my play list is Simple Minds and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark:) I think I recall Pukka Orchestra :)

  3. Hello, I'm behind in my comments this week. I like the deconstructed flair of this sweater. Laser tag how fun and adventurous! Good to see some casual outfit post, I need to do some of these types of posts myself. Enjoy seeing you outside. Have a great weekend!

  4. Not only looking real, but looking real good! Very chic outfit, Mom, for laser tag.
Nice to be able to remember the decades after a having a few under one's belt, yes? Now, if I can just keep up the remembering part.
New Romantics? OH, YES ... Adam Ant! Did you know he is still recording. A little bigger around the mid-section, but still rocking. I was in art school a good part of the 80's ... late bloomer, me. Very New Romantic!

  5. I love what these sneakers do to your look. Not nothing special to my eye. Love the dressed-up-streetwear vibe.

  6. I'm an 80s girl too. :) I had to play that song "The Garden" because I don't recall having heard it.
Good outfit. Black monochrome is quite nice with your red lips, nails.

  7. My daughter is blonde with light eyes, and we discovered yesterday that she looks fabulous in black. I told her that I had an online friend who is blonde and looks terrific in black, so she wanted to see your picture. Her comment is that indeed, you look great in black!

  8. Oh, and she preferred your pictures without sunglasses so that we could see your beautiful eyes, which are very similar to hers in color :)

    1. Thanks Amy! Please tell your daughter that she has given me a lovely boost:) You know me well enough to know I am going to advocate for wearing black. I think one of the things I find most appealing about blondes wearing black is the sharp contrast... very dramatic. No doubt your daughter is following in her mum's very stylish footsteps:)

    2. Thanks Deborah - I'll have to send you her pic in black. She's not as dramatic in nature as my other daughter (who's redhead and acts it), but she sure rocks the black :)
